Cubs Sign Austin Gomber to Minor League Deal

The Cubs have signed Austin Gomber to a minor league deal, according to Tommy Birch.

Gomber spent nearly five seasons with the Colorado Rockies after being acquired in the trade that sent Nolan Arenado to St. Louis. His best year came in 2024, when he posted a 4.75 ERA over 165 innings.

The southpaw relies on a six-pitch arsenal, led by a four-seam fastball and curveball. Pitching in Colorado is never easy, but his 7.49 ERA and 1.72 WHIP this year are far from encouraging. He’ll report to Triple-A and provide the Cubs with additional pitching depth for the final month of the season.
