Pete Crow-Armstrong to Play For Team USA in 2026 World Baseball Classic

“Whenever you call, you know my answer is yes. I love getting to play for my country more than anything.”

Pete Crow-Armstrong announced his commitment to Team USA on Thursday evening, citing a conversation he had with manager Mark DeRosa during this year’s All-Star Game festivities in which he told the former Cub he would be open to playing in the World Baseball Classic.

The center fielder broke out in 2025 with a 109 wRC+ and 5.4 fWAR, drilling 31 home runs and becoming the first Cubs player to reach the 30/30 mark since Sammy Sosa. PCA is set to man center field for DeRosa’s club, although other players could challenge him for the starting job in the future.

His impressive offensive campaign and Gold Glove-winning season also earned him a spot on the All-MLB Second Team, making him the only Cub to receive such a nomination.
