Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/10/26): Busch at 1B, Shaw in CF, Horton Hurling
The Cubs are back in action following an off day, and they’ve got Cade Horton squaring off with Jacob deGrom and the Rangers. This game is being played in Surprise, but no one is shocked that neither TV nor radio broadcasts are available. If only the Cubs had their own regional sports network so fans could watch the team’s ace facing off against one of the best pitchers of his generation. Alas, all we can do is dream that ownership will one day get control over the team’s broadcast rights.
Wait…
Anywho, Horton is backed by Michael Busch at first, Matt Shaw in center, Kevin Alcantara at DH, and Michael Conforto in left. Chas McCormick is in right, Moises Ballesteros is catching, James Triantos is at second, and Jefferson Rojas is at short. Scott Kingery continues to get tons of action at third, but it’s not looking like he’s got a shot to break camp with the big club.
You don’t need me to break down deGrom, do you? After all, he’s plenty broken down as it is. Once the best pitcher on the planet, the former Met went five seasons without exceeding 92 innings before getting back to 172.2 over 30 starts last season. His pinpoint control was still there and his fastball sat around 98 mph, so it’s possible the 37-year-old still has plenty of gas in the tank.
It would be nice to see or hear for ourselves, but we’ll just have to settle for anecdotal online evidence. First pitch is at 3:05pm CT.
