Cubs Place Daniel Palencia on IL with Left Oblique Strain

Hoo, boy, this ain’t fun.

The Chicago Cubs today placed right-handed pitcher Daniel Palencia on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain (retroactive to April 14).

Palencia, 26, is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA with one save in five relief appearances this season. He has allowed just three hits in 5.0 innings pitched and notched five strikeouts.

The Cubs play the New York Mets today at 1:20 p.m. at Wrigley Field in a game that can be seen on Marquee and heard on 104.3 the Score.
