Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (4/26/26): Dodgers 6, Cubs 0 – Shutout Ends Series

The Cubs suffered consecutive losses for the first time in over two weeks on Sunday afternoon against the Dodgers. They could not make good on early scoring chances and the home team completed a shutout victory.

Los Angeles put immediate pressure on starter Shōta Imanaga, scoring three runs in the opening inning on a sacrifice fly by Andy Pages and a two-run double by Miguel Rojas. Chicago got five men on base in the first two frames against lefty Justin Wrobleski and failed to get any home.

Imanaga kept the North Siders in the game until he ran out of steam in the bottom of the 6th, giving up an RBI single to catcher Dalton Rushing. Later in the inning, Carson Kelly committed a throwing error by trying to pick off Kyle Tucker on third, The former Cub scored to make it 5-0.

Shohei Ohtani gave the Dodgers their final run on an opposite-field solo home run against Hoby Milner in the bottom of the 7th. The Cubs did nothing after that and went down to a 6-0 defeat, dropping their first series in two weeks. (Box score)

Key Moment

Chicago went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 men on base. The leadoff hitter reached in six of nine innings and could not score.

Why the Cubs Lost

They fell behind early and could not take advantage of several chances to get back into the game on offense.

Stats That Matter

  • Imanaga got pushed deeper into the game because of bullpen injuries: 5.1 IP, 5 R, 6 H, 6 K, and 3 BB.
  • Nico Hoerner had a single and a walk while playing shortstop.
  • Pete Crow-Armstrong had a walk and a single, and made several spectacular catches.

Bottom Line

There isn’t a harder place to play right now than Dodger Stadium facing that loaded roster. The Cubs were hoping they could take the series after winning the opener, but avoiding the sweep is perfectly acceptable. They created plenty of scoring chances in these last two losses, they just did not come through with a big hit. If the process remains the same, good results will follow.

On Deck
