Watch: Video Evidence of Cubs’ Offensive Ineptitude Over Last Month
Warning: Avoid watching this at work or around anyone you could upset with bad language. You know that whole thing about the Cubs’ offensive downturn coinciding with them seeing an inordinate amount of breaking balls starting in May? While it’s true that they’ve struggled to adjust, there also appears to be a measure of them simply failing to do damage against strikes in general. Maybe that’s because they’re pressing or they’re just mired in the worst bout of misfortune anyone’s ever seen.
Whatever the case, it’s clear they’re not taking advantage of myriad opportunities. The video below was compiled by former CI staffer and current CHGO Cubs raconteur Brendan Miller, and features Cubs hitters making 66 outs on pitches in the heart of the zone while ahead in the count.
Over the last month, Cubs hitters have made 66 outs on pitches in the heart of the zone while ahead in the count.
Roughly 3 outs per game on opportunity pitches.
See for yourself—here’s video of every one.

No shade on Obsession or Widow’s Bay, but [THIS] is the best piece of horror that’s out there right now.
