Aaron Bummer Opts Out, Becomes Free Agent

Former Braves and White Sox reliever Aaron Bummer has opted out of his minor league deal with the Cubs and is now a free agent. This is pretty much a nothingburger because Bummer hasn’t been able to recapture the performance that made him a coveted arm a few years ago, and it’s really saying something that the Cubs didn’t feel he could help their bullpen. That said, they’ve now got one less veteran option as they head into the second half.
